News from the Freezer Case

For Nonnie, and Mr. Clinton.

For Peetie.

For everyone; obviously they are rather popular.

Ain't No Party Like a Mamacita Party...

The kids are with Papi's parents this week. It's amazing how much time we have for movies when Sponge Bob isn't blaring in the living room for six hours a day. I'm catching up on documentaries.

Harvard Beats Yale, 29-29
So, so charming. Loved it. I loved that, as middle-aged men, they put on their coats and ties to be interviewed at their kitchen tables.
Can you imagine being haunted by a penalty call 40 years on?

How much do I love Erik Spiekermann? "I just like looking at type. Some people get a kick out of looking at girls' bottoms..."

SGM, We have a project!

There is a rumor going around that Bravo is casting a Real Housewives series for Houston. I'm a housewife in Houston! Well, at least as much as any of those other broads. So this is what I'm going to wear to the audition -- tell me what you think:

Houston Barbie by Mamacita

Items in this set:
Cotton Twill Blazer, $34
Red Bow Pocket Skirt, 14 GBP
The less work you have to do, the more professional you have to look, of course.

Yolanda 120 patent pump, $660
Just your basic errand-running shoes. Nothing too high.

18K White Gold & Diamond Extra Large Hoops, $4,730
Houston Barbie will describe these as "simple, elegant."

1/2ct Diamond Cross Pendant |, $390
Jesus comes first in my life. Jesus and shiny things.

It goes without saying: "simple, elegant" French manicure, Big Sexy Hair hairspray, and an "elegant" little trowel for putting on your makeup.

It's modeled after my favorite Houston Barbie, Victoria Osteen. [Just because you're a Christian leader doesn't mean you can't smack a bitch flight attendant, amirite?]

Chat with Papi

3:12 PM Papi: Yo.

: yo
sounds like they had pretty good days

: Yay

: although becca evidently flipped some kids off
3:13 PM she got in trouble

: ?? Does she even know what that means?

: ms. cook believed her when she said she didn't know what it means
she asked me when we got home

: Ms Cook believed her? Wow

: yeah, surprisingly enough.
I said it means "I hate you" and it's very very rude
then becca wrote me a note apologizing for making the gesture to me

: Ummm don't say it means I hate you, or she will start flipping everyone off.
3:14 PM
: yeah, but how do I explain the other? "What does 'fuck you' mean, Momma?"

: good point

What mamacita is...

Josh Cooley's Inappropriate Golden Books. Coming soon to Comic-Con!

This is my new favorite song. I promise it will make you happy.
If it doesn't, you just hate America. And Finland, I guess.

LOVE this sweet video.

Over six years, StoryCorps put up booths where people could interview each other about anything. This one, animated by StoryCorps, is a twelve-year-old boy with Asperger's Syndrome interviewing his mom about what it's like to raise him.

I just changed your life

Chocolate wine. Yes, it's good. AND GOOD FOR YOU.

I want someone to try it on Cocoa Pebbles and report back to me.

This weekend Becca got to ride around on a Rhino with cousin Reilly and pick wild blackberries. [Not pictured: bare feet.]

Emmet got to shoot a pellet rifle for the first time with Grandaddy. My dad put a straight pin in the side of a cardboard box on the burn pile; Emmet hit it dead on from 35 feet. Little man's almost ready for the Royal Army -- as soon as he's not afraid to go to the bathroom by myself.

Put them all together they spell MOTHER...

I had a great Mother's Day. Emmet brought me breakfast in bed (Pop-Tarts). I got to spend quality time with my family. Pimm's Cups plus boiled shrimp and crab bisque for lunch.

But now I know why I have to keep a blog: so I'll have proof that I did something with my children while they were young besides lie in bed eating bonbons.

Lemonade Day

Yesterday was Lemonade Day. E&B set up a stand with their buds Jonah & Toby.

We made compost cookies. [Jen, you should try these -- you make a regular cookie base (sugar, butter, eggs, flour, etc.) and add your favorite "mix-ins," some sweet and some salty. The kids chose cocoa krispies, M&Ms, Cinnamon Life, Heath bar chunks and pretzels for their cookies. Next time I might substitute Crisco for a little bit of the butter so they won't spread as much.]

Letitia made their awesome shirts.

In total, the Hello Kitty jewelry box-turned-cash register collected $22.

In the evening we went to a skating party, where Becca shook it all about.
