A Freak Like Me
Talking to my friend, Bonjour Madame, just made me realize: I am the Tracy Flick of the holidays. It seems that no one else keeps a spreadsheet of activities and gifts going back 8 years, as well as a database of Christmas card addresses. Any of my homies out there doing the same thing?

My husband and I keep a google doc of gifts that goes back 3 years at this point. I thought that made us a bit freakish, but maybe not!
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Gosh. I thought I was the only one. I have a spreadsheet that lists each recipient, with columns to write in the gift; check when it is purchased, and another check for when it has been wrapped. Final column? The cost. The ones in my computer begin with 2002, but I have file folders at home that predate this century (love saying that!). Not only do these lists prevent duplicates and re-gifting, they show how much money I have spent over the years. If I have given someone a subscription (favorite gift), I can ask if they enjoyed it and would like it renewed. Gotta go now - gotta make my grocery list for Thanksgiving, and check last year's for the menu!
ReplyDeleteI promise you that every single Christmas card that I have ever sent out is logged in a spreadsheet. ;-)
ReplyDeleteever-growing google doc! :)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I don't have to deal with christmas. Keeping up with birthdays is already more than I can handle...
ReplyDeleteSo funny! There are more that do this??? I have an address list on my computer, (Lord help me if it ever gets erased). But the rest of it is in my head and I reinvent the gift wheel every single year. It's obviously not the best way to go. :)
ReplyDeleteI used to have a database of addresses and which christmas cards I sent. I don't like to buy a single box and send everyone the same card. I buy about 5 boxes when they are on sale and try not to send folks the same card I sent them last year. Unfortunately, my database is there but in garbagy format due to a hard drive crash. I just haven't cleaned it up. Haven't addressed Christmas cards yet either. I should do that now instead of sewing.
