Preview of Next Year's Nobel Prize Ceremony

Remember when SGM had her brilliant suggestion of showing up to a party with a tray of Jell-O shots? That SGM is one crafty little woman. I decided to take her advice for the big party last weekend, when I stumbled on the greatest invention of the 21st century.

The genius of these little numbers is the plastic insert that scrapes the sides of the cup and pops out to deliver the jiggly, alcoholic goodness right into your mouth. Inspired by their website, I even got all gourmet with the shots. These were all pretty good:

[Each recipe makes 10-12 shots and needs to be refrigerated for at least four hours.]

Chocolate-Covered Cherry

  • 1 c boiling water
  • 1 three-ounce box Cherry Jell-O
  • 1/3 c chocolate liqueur
  • 1/3 c vanilla vodka
  • 1/3 c cold water
  • 10-12 maraschino cherries

Place a maraschino cherry in the bottom of each cup. Dissolve Jell-O in boiling water, then add liquors and water. Pour mixture into cups, chill and serve.

Blueberry-Malibu
  • 1 c boiling water
  • 1 three-ounce box Berry Blue Jell-O
  • 2/3 c Malibu rum
  • 1/3 c cold water
  • blueberries
Place 3-4 blueberries in the bottom of each cup. Dissolve Jell-O in boiling water, then add Malibu and water. Pour mixture into cups, chill and serve. Congratulate yourself on including more antioxidants in your diet.

Blackberry-Vanilla
  • 1 c boiling water
  • 1 three-ounce box Blackberry Fusion Jell-O
  • 2/3 c vanilla vodka
  • 1/3 c cold water
Dissolve Jell-O in boiling water, then add vodka and water. Pour mixture into cups, chill and serve.

Tropical Punch
  • 1 c boiling water
  • 1 three-ounce box Tropical Fusion Jell-O
  • 2/3 c limoncello
  • 1/3 c cold water
Dissolve Jell-O in boiling water, then add limoncello and water. Pour mixture into cups, chill and serve.

N.B. You should definitely boil the water in the microwave; it's much easier.

  1. Just when I think that jello shots are the perfect party drink, you go ahead and take it to the next level like this! Special cups and gourmet recipes? AND whipped cream? You are set for world domination, my friend.
(how do you think nutella and jello would taste?)

  2. Don't know about nutella and jello, but nutella pudding is something I could get behind. Maybe with some hazelnut liqueur in it? I'll get back to you on that.
